From the Publisher: Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can’t just pretend nothing happened. But “complicated” doesn’t even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.

See, Sabine isn’t just an ordinary girl. She’s a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people’s fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.

And Sabine isn’t above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

First Thoughts: The romance here….oh my heart! *clutches chest* It is definitely so complicated.

The Story: Nash and Kaylee are so fragile, then Sabine (Nash’s ex-girlfriend) comes on the scene and we find out she is a mara – a creature who creates nightmare’s from people’s dreams and feeds on their emotions (fear). At the same time teachers at the school start dropping dead. Coincidence? That is what we find out in this book, and as usual there’s lots going on and never a dull moment.

Kaylee: I really related to her in this book. She was really struggling in this installment and I could feel her pain. I loved that she was honest with Nash when she told him that she really did want to be with him, but it wasn’t that simple. She never played any games and was just telling him the truth and I respected her so much for it.

Nash:
*holds him*. He is totally broken. I was also ready to shout every other page “don’t eff this up and do something with Sabine!”

Sabine: You must want to know more about her now? Here it is: Bitch. I have no sympathy for her even though she has had it rough.

The Romance: It was really good in this book. I am dying for Kaylee and Nash to get back together, but realize they really do have to sort things out. At the same time I could see that Sabine might totally sabotage everything. Basically, this made me, the reader so impatient by the end! The wait better be worth it, Ms. Vincent! Image may be NSFW.

Tod: While I love him more and more with each book, I reallllllly did not like a lecture he gave Kaylee.

Twists and Turns: There were no major tiwist or double crossings but the plot revealed that there are also no coincidences. Avari does want Kaylee’s soul, but there is still some massive plan that the reader is not aware of…I think.

The ending: I feel like I need more. I’m not satisfied. While this episode of the story wrapped up OK, I need more closure or decisiveness from Kaylee and Nash. I also may have slightly lessened my hatred for Sabine.

Final Thoughts: I loved it as I got to feel the whole range of emotions: from jealousy of Sabine to hatred of her, from wanting Kaylee to forgive Nash to wanting him to give Sabine the boot. What I really wanted though, was a massive kissy reunion. However, the lack of the kissy is probably what kept it real…so hmph. I guess I need to be patient.

I’m also loving the complexity of the plot. I don’t think we’ve even seen a fraction of what Avari is capable of, and he is pure evil. EEEEK!

Rec it? Absolutely!Image may be NSFW.
